Almost everyone experiences knee pain once in their lifetime. Most of the time the culprit behind this is weak or fatigued Quadriceps Muscle group especially VMO.
Quadriceps muscle is a group of muscles on the anterior part of your thigh. These muscle being Vastus Lateralis , Rectus Femoris, Vastus Intermedius & Vastus Medialis.
Vastus Medialis is the most medial muscle and constitute of two fibers. One is longitudinal fibers and obliquus fiber (most distal fibers)
Vastus Medialis Obliquus (VMO) is the most distal part of the muscle , and it majorly helps with tracking of patella and limiting injuries to the knee joint.
VMO can misfire or get fatigued and lead to mal-tracking of the patella and subsequent damage to the soft tissues creating increased force on the knees, often resulting in injuries such as patellofemoral pain syndrome, acl injuries, chondromalacia, tendinitis and knee valgus.
